CANTON —
A Bryant woman died Wednesday after she fell down an elevator shaft at a Canton business where she was an employee.
Lisa Bickell, 47, of 104 W. Harper St. in Bryant, was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The accident occurred at the Black Crow Candle Co., 30 W. Elm St. in Canton, formerly the site of Melgreen's Furniture.
According to an investigator with the Fulton County Coroner's Office, Bickell returned to the business and entered through a back service entrance. From the main level, she raised the safety gate to enter the elevator, the car of which was on the third floor.
Bickell stepped into the open elevator shaft and fell nine feet to the basement. Autopsy results indicated she died from spinal injuries.
