Boxer Rebellion Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Born in Belfast, Ireland and served as a Ordinary Seaman, U.S. Navy. In action against the enemy at Tientsin, China, June 20, 1900, crossing the river in a small boat while under heavy enemy fire, he assisted in destroying buildings occupied by the enemy. He received his award on March 22, 1902 from President Theodore Roosevelt and his Medal of Honor was accredited to the state California.
