First Lieutenant Mathias J. Glaser, 23, was killed in action on December 12, 1944 in France while serving in the 45th Infantry Division. He was previously reported as missing in action and his status was changed to killed in action in January, 1945. He had been wounded on October 21, 1944 and received the Purple Heart medal.

Memorial services for Lieutenant Glaser were held at 9 a.m. January 17, 1945 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. The body of Lieutenant Glaser was returned to the United States in November, 1948. The funeral services were held at 8:30 a.m. January 20, 1949 at the residence and at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Rosary Church. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery.

Lieutenant Glaser, born March 27, 1921, was a member of Pershing Rifles and graduated from the University of Dayton in April, 1943. He entered service on May 2, 1943 and went overseas in February, 1944.
