Reba Virginia (Ginny) McQueen, age 72, and a resident of Butterfield Trail Village, Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in Fayetteville. She was born October 28, 1939, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to Roy C. and Alberta Backus Ritter. She was married to Rex W. McQueen on April 21, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her greatest joy in life was her family and the bond they shared for one another, as well as treasured friendships with many close friends. She was an enthusiastic golfer in later years and loved to read in her spare time.
She graduated from Springdale High School and was a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, working for many years in various fields of the nursing profession. Her last profession was in medical transcription, which she enjoyed for many years, retiring in 2006. "Ports of call" for her life with her family included Taipei, Taiwan; Kailua, Hawaii; Stilwell and Stanley, Kansas; Mountain Home, Arkansas; Branson, Missouri, and finally back to Springdale in 1999. During the years in Mountain Home, Ginny helped establish a Compassionate Friends chapter, an organization for bereaved parents and siblings.
She was preceded in death by beloved son, Cameron Royce McQueen. Survivors include her husband, Rex McQueen; one son, Lance Ritter McQueen and his wife Melinda, of Laguna Vista, Texas; and one granddaughter, Cameron Taylor Boling of Harlingen, Texas. Other survivors include sisters Kay Jean Smith and husband Van of Harrison, Arkansas, LeAnn Marie Underwood and husband, Bill, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and stepmother Helen Reed Skalski Ritter of Joplin, Missouri.
A private family graveside service will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens, Mountain Home, Arkansas under the direction of Roller Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Life in Springdale or to the Scholarship Fund at Butterfield Trail Villag
