MARY BERNADETTE FOSTER

Mary Bernadette Foster, 79, was born May 27, 1932 in Chariton, Iowa to Thomas William and Mary Isabelle Goben Mullen. She passed away October 7, 2011 at her home in Lucas, Iowa.

Bernadette graduated from Chariton High School in the Class of 1950. She started working for the Lucas County Telephone Company as an operator, while in high school. She worked for the telephone company in various positions for 38 years, retiring from Contel in 1987 as a Specialist in the Business Office.

Bernadette was united in marriage to Roger DeBok in 1951. To this union, one daughter, Cyndi, was born. In 1979 she was united in marriage to Leo Foster.

Bernadette's interests were quilting and painting, spending time with her grandson and great-grandchildren, and working with her flowers.

Survivors are daughter, Cyndi Cox, brother Donald Mullen and wife Minnie, grandson Jamie Kent and wife Stacie, great-grandson Kolton and girlfriend Amber, great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn, and "special grandchildren" Abbie and Ty. Also surviving: one niece and spouse, four nephews and spouses, several great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two husbands, sister Carmen Darrah of California, and brother Thomas Patrick Mullen of Chariton.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery. Officiating was Father Christopher Pisut. Pall bearers were Jamie Kent, Bruce Mullen, Mark Mullen, Earl Lamb and Steve Foster. Honorary pall bearer was Kolton Kent.
