With my heart filled with sorrow, I will write a few words about a good mother, to wit: Rachel Collins who was born in 1866 and departed this life February 4, 1952, being near 86 years old at her death. She was married to Lewis Collins in 1892 and to this union was born four sons of which two dies in infansy(sp), and one after reaching adult age. Mother leaves two boys to mourn her loss, and a number of grandchildren. Mother came to the Steele's Creek Church and told the brethren and sisters what great things the Lord had done for her, and the church feeling the same way, the Brethren received her and she was baptized with father on the 3rd day of July 1921, by Elder J. C. Mosley and Elder A. L. Allen. Mother lived her life according to her profession. She always told us boys she had a home up in Heaven where no heart breaks would ever come. She so often told me to meet her up there. Mother was faithful to fill her seat, walked through the heat and cold, to fill her seat, and to care for her children. Mother, Oh Mother, how I miss you in my home. Mother told me just a few days before she went away, Woots, I want you to have my funeral preached the same time papa's is preached. I said Mother if that is what you want that is what we will have done. Written by her oldest son, Woots Hicks.

Some other person added the following information to this memorial with an alternate birth date for Rachel Moore Collins. It is very unlikely that the alternate date is accurate since the obituary above was written by her oldest son, Woots Hicks, who lived near her throughout her life.
Another on line source says that Rachael was born in 1873. The 1866 was taken from a cemetery survey, but, of course, it, too, could be wrong.

Rachael was the daughter of George Moore and Susannah Triplett. She married 1) Hence Hicks:That marriage produced one child, Woots Hicks b 1890. She was divorced from Hence Hicks and married Lewis Collins. That marriage produced four children, two of which survived. Those children were Unknown Collins #1, Unknown Collins #2, Willard Collins b 1901, and Robert Collins b 1907
