A loving mother and devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Verna lived a rich and long life. She fulfilled many callings within the church, including Ward and Stake missions and service in the presidency of the Relief Society and Mutual. Along with her husband, Ray, and daughter Judy, she was called to a Temple Officiator Mission in Washington, D.C., from February of 1986 to February of 1987. She especially enjoyed the companionship of her family and friends and flower gardens, and fishing.
Verna is survived by her husband, Ray, of Bellingham, Wash.; two sons, L. Ray of Island Park, Idaho, and Max of Bellingham; and two daughters, Mary Jean Mower of Draper, Utah, and Judy Ann Lewis of Ogden, Utah; 10 grandchildren, Helen Keppler, Janine Simmons, Ray Brown, Rhonda Russell, Teresa Wyatt, Brian Lewis, Russell Lewis, Dave Skinner, Daniel Skinner and Doug Skinner; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Dean McBride of Logan and Reid McBride of Coal Valley, Ill.; and a sister, Melba Palmer of Aberdeen, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Leona Archibald and Ruth McBride; and a daughter, Ruth Post.
Burial will be in the Hyrum City Cemetery.
