                        Hymeneal.

Mr. John N. Nevers and Anna L. Brockway, both of Brainerd, Minn., were very quietly marred at the First M. E. church, yesterday, by the paster, Rev. T. McClary.—[Minneapolis Pioneer Press.
We heartily congratulate the happy couple, and welcome with pleasure our old friend Nevers to the army of Benedicts; and that their wedded life may be a long and happy one through which they may ever bless their wedding day is the wish of the TRIBUNE. (Brainerd Tribune, 27 December 1879, p. 4, c. 3)

The married as well as the single gentlemen of Brainerd should make an especial effort to call upon the ladies who keep open house on New Year's Day. The matter of trouble and expense is no small item and whether or not the very pleasant custom will be continued in future years in this city will depend largely upon the gentlemen this year. (Brainerd Dispatch, 26 December 1884, p. 3, c. 1)

                      A Tin Wedding.

The tenth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Jno. N. Nevers was celebrated at their residence, corner Main and Fourth streets, on Christmas evening. Their large and commodious dwelling was taxed to its utmost to accommodate the large number of friends of the host and hostess who assembled to make merry on the recurrence of the event. The evening was very pleasantly spent and the company dispersed for their homes about 11:30 o'clock. Many useful presents in tinware were received and it would be hard to name anything in that line that was not represented in the collection, (Brainerd Dispatch, 27 December 1889, p. 4, c. 5)

Mrs. J. N. Nevers entertained a party of lady friends at her cottage at Lake View on Tuesday. (Brainerd Dispatch, 13 July 1894, p. 4, c. 3)

On Monday afternoon Mrs. J. N. Nevers was surprised at her home, corner of Fourth and Main streets, by a number of her lady friends, the occasion being the anniversary of her birthday. A very pleasant afternoon was enjoyed, followed by refreshments. A very pretty souvenir was tendered Mrs. Nevers by the following ladies who were present: Mrs. I. T. Dean, Mrs. Fannie E. Smith, Mrs. A. E. Losey, Mrs. D. D. Smith, Mrs. W. A. Fleming, Mrs. N. H. Ingersoll, Mrs. Geo. Ames, Mrs. S. F. Alderman, Mrs. H. Spalding, Mrs. H. I. Cohen and Mrs. C. M. Patek. (Brainerd Dispatch, 07 February 1896, p. 4, c. 4)

Mrs. J. N. Nevers and children, Master Ralph and George and Miss Vera, will go to Faribault, for a few weeks' visit with Mrs. Nevers' sister, Mrs. Baxter, of that city. (Brainerd Dispatch, 04 June 1897, p. 4, c. 5)

On Wednesday evening, Jan. 12, at the home of Mrs. J. N. Nevers, by the invitation of Rev. G. W. Gallagher a Literary Society was formed for the study of English literature. Thirty-two members joined the society. The purpose of this organization is to cultivate a taste for literary studies. It is hoped that the society will yet be the nucleus of a public library for Brainerd. The society is not denominational but composed of members of the various churches. (Brainerd Dispatch, 21 January 1898, p. 10, c. 3)

Mrs. J. N. Nevers was given a pleasant surprise on Saturday by a group of lady friends, who invaded her home with a large supply of good things to eat, and took possession for the afternoon and evening, the occasion being the lady's birthday anniversary. Those present were: Mrs. C. M. Patek, Mrs. H. I. Cohen, Mrs. D. D. Smith, Mrs. W. A. Fleming, Mrs. N. H. Ingersoll, Mrs. F. W. Wieland, Mrs. H. Spalding, Mrs. Fannie E. Smith, Mrs. N. McFadden and Mrs. Geo. Ames. (Brainerd Dispatch, 09 February 1900, p. 8, c. 1)
