Val Allen was born in Kentucky, probably in Grayson County. His father was, Carr Allen and his 2nd wife Ava, as Val was in that family in the 1860 census of Pulaski County, Missouri. He had a brother, Nicolas, about 18 months older, who was last seen trying to swim the Mississippi River. Val md Susan Alice Wilson 31 Dec 1877, in Keller, Tarrant, Texas. She was a survivor of the Indian raid in Elm Creek, Young County, Texas, in Oct 1864. Her father, Thomas Jefferson Wilson, was killed in that frontier battle. Valentine entered the Cherokee Strip Run in 1893 and won 160 acres of land in what is now Garvin County, Oklahoma. He and Susan had a family of 9 children, all but one living to adulthood. Val and Susan lived many of their later years in Wellington, Texas.
