Mrs. Sarah Howley, 73, wife of Thomas Howley, well known farmers of southwest Hartford, died suddenly after an illness of two hours Saturday morning at the home of their daughters in South Bend, Ind., where Mr. and Mrs. Howley had been residing for the past few months. Funeral rites for her were held Monday at the Silver Creek Catholic church in Cass county, the Rev. Fr. Karl of Dowagiac officiating and interment was at Silver Creek cemetery. Casket bearers were Edward and Gerald Carmody, John and Raymond Healy, and Patrick and Walter Barrett, all of the southwest Hartford community where Mr. and Mrs. Howley resided for many years. Deceased was born in Ypsilanti and when a small girl moved here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Watson, early day pioneers of the Hartford-Watervliet community. She is the last of her family, three brothers, Tom, John and Edward Watson, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Fitzsimmons, having preceded her in death. Besides the husband, four daughters and three sons survive, Mrs. Nellie McNitt, and Mrs. Katherine Stuckum of Watervliet, Misses Mayme and Sadie Howley of South Bend, Thomas Howley, Jr., of Dowagiac, and William and Edward Howley who reside in southwest Hartford.
