Vestie Anderson Murray, 98, of Jesup, GA, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, surrounded by her family.
The Wayne County, Ga. native and former resident of Brunswick, Ga. was the eldest member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, loved gardening, fishing, hunting and being with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, J.M. Murray; her parents, Russell and Abia Edenfield Anderson; 5 sisters, Lettie, Leetie, Ethel, Olive and Sue Nell; 2 brothers, Clyde and Roy Anderson.
Survivors are her son, Larry and Carol Murray of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Reggie Davis of Green Cove, Fla., Pat and Paul Williams of Hardinsburg, Ky., Brenda and Benny Edgerton of Patterson, Ga.; a sister, Adell Thompson of Dublin, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011 from New Hope Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Horne officiating.
Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 P.M. prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope Church Building Fund, 1240 New Hope Road, Jesup, Ga. 31545.
