Anthony Zinkula, age 49, of Iowa City, died Friday, December 9, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services for Tony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree, Iowa. Parish Life Coordinator Carol Kaalberg will preside. Casketbearers will be Marc Davis, Ryan Davis, Weston Rockafellow, Ken Pettit, Michael Zinkula, and Christopher Zinkula. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery with Military Rites by the Lone Tree American Legion Post No. 457. Visitation for Tony will be held on Sunday, December 11th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Tony's name. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and hospitality will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion Hall. Anthony Robin Zinkula was born on January 11, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Rose Marie (Blick) Zinkula. Tony served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and the Reserves for 18 years. His career has been working as a mechanic on heavy equipment. Tony was also a carpenter and wood craftsman and enjoyed building model airplanes and fishing.

Tony will be deeply missed by his parents, one son, Anthony J. "T. J." Zinkula of Denver, Colorado; his daughter, Jessica Rockafellow and husband, Weston of Lone Tree; his sister, Cynthia Etheredge of Huntsville, Alabama; and three brothers, Allan Zinkula and wife Robin of Iowa City, Andy Zinkula and wife Elaine of Rogers, Arkansas, and Wayne Zinkula also of Rogers, Arkansas.

Tony was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Zinkula in infancy.
