He was a native of Ware County and had resided most of his life in Dixie Union. He was the son of the late Berry Hampton Tanner and Lucille Jordan Tanner and was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Carlis Tanner and Delmon Tanner. He was a farmer.
The survivors include his wife, Millie Tanner of Dixie Union; a daughter, Janice Darlene Eyerly (husband Lou) of St. Mary's; a grandson, Justin Bennett (wife Jessica) of Dixie Union; a great grandson, James Hunter Bennett of Dixie Union; five sisters, Mary Sears (late husband Everette) of Dixie Union, Ginger McLamb (husband Ronald), Eva Mae Collins (late husband Tommy), and Clara Faye Thigpen (husband Huey) all of Waycross, Wilma Lee (late husband Harrell) of Alma; his mother-in-law, Millie Dismuke of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (May 12, 2006) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday night from 6 until 9.
