Rice Montrivolle Harrington was born in Shelby, New York Feb 13, 1824 and died at his home in Edgerton Township, Wed. Aug 9, 1899. He was married to Miss Lucy Jewett April 18, 1852. Five children were born to them four of whom are still alive.

T. J. Harrington, Miss Cora Harrington & Mrs. James Pinkerton of this county.
In 1866 the deceased moved to Buchanan Co., Iowa, remaining there until 1885 when they moved to Hanson Co., S. Dakota. Mr. Harrington was a hard working, industrious farmer. In his last year he put in and harvested 140 acres of grain unassisted.
The funeral services were held at the residence Aug 10, 1899. Rev. F.J. Norton officiated.
He was buried at Green Hill Cemetery.
