Urbana --- Richard H. Hegele, 64, of 338 E. Court st., Urbana businessman for many years, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday in University Hospital, Columbus, where he had been admitted earlier in the day.
He was born in Urbana, Sept. 11, 1911, a son of Harry and Oreta Hanna Hegele.
He was a life member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Harmony Lodge No. 8, F&AM, Urbana Chapter, Urbana Council, Raper Commandery, Antioch Shrine and Scottish Rite of Columbus.
He was educated in Urbana schools and was a 1933 graduate of Wittenberg University. He was a former member of the Urban Lions Club.
For 33 years he was the owner and operator of H. W. Hegele Co., and for 10 years he operated the Meadow Lake Club. He also was an estimator for the Jamison Pluming and Heating Co. in Springfield.
Survivors include his wife, the former Myrtle Christensen; one daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Sandra) Tooman, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three step-sons, Thomas, of Cary, N. C., Paul, of Cambridge, Mass., and Mark, of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, one aunt and several cousins.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Elgin, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Oak Dale Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
