PHILLIP WAYNE COLLINS
September 13, 1927 - July 19, 2018
Phillip Wayne Collins, age 90 of Winchester, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Willows of Winchester. He was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee on September 13, 1927 to the late W.W. and Charlotte Sims Collins. A 1945 graduate of Decherd High School, Phillip served in the United States Navy during World War II. After returning home, Phillip married the love of his life, Jane Street Collins in 1948.
Phillip and his brother, Samuel T. Collins owned and operated Decherd Cash Grocery for over forty years. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, and hunting, as well as watching western movies and listening to music. He was a lifelong member of Decherd Presbyterian Church.
Phillip is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Collins; and brother, Samuel T. Collins. He is survived by his son, Steve (Jania) Collins of Winchester; daughter, Connie (Johnny) Pirani of Gadsden, Alabama; grandsons, Jeff (Melissa) Collins, J.P. Pirani, Joseph Pirani, and Cole (Abby) Frazier; great-grandson, Jake Collins; and great-granddaughter, Avery Frazier.
Visitation will be from 10 am-1 pm on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Dr. Michael Bradley and Dr. Michael Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Garner Cemetery.
