Frederick "Fred" Rush McCoy was born Thursday, June 11, 1959, to his biological parents Marcell Donald and Ella Rush in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS. He was reared by his adopted parents James "Red" McCoy and Nealie Jane Gale McCoy in the Mt. Nebo Community in DeKalb, Kemper County, MS.
During his youth, he joined Brown Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS, where he remained a member his entire life. He was a 1977 graduate of West Kemper High School in DeKalb, MS.
In 1979, he became employed with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a Soil Conservationist Technician where he had worked for the past 32 years.
On Wednesday, December 24, 1986, he married Cynthia King, the daughter of Thaddis "Sonny" King and Martha Ree Cole King, and their union was blessed with two children, all sons. He was the beloved step father of one step child, a step son.
Mr. McCoy, age 52, exited this mortal life on Monday, November 7, 2011, with his family members gathered around his bedside at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Lauderdale County, MS, and he immediately awoke in that beautiful city called Heaven where no travelers have ever returned with family members and loved ones who had gone on before him gathered there to greet him and to welcome him home.
