Wayne was born on January 15, 1933. He was raised by two loving parents, John R. and Dorothy Van Gorp, on a farm by Pella, Iowa.
Wayne had a variety of occupations and interests throughout his life. He was a truck driver, operated his own sanitation route, and spent many years as an automotive mechanic. He enjoyed stock car racing, gardening and woodworking. Later in life he fulfilled his dream of a college education, completing a degree in Applied Science.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lee Van Gorp and his wife, Wilma Jean Van Gorp.
He is survived by four children, Dennis Van Gorp of Independence, MO, Cindy Baxter of Downing, MO, Linda Kalmbach of Puyallup, WA and Dixie Dickard of New Plymouth, ID , along with their spouses, 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
His inspirational witness of his Christian faith has influenced many and will be missed by friend and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Legacy Hospice, Liberty Dialysis or Wish Granters.
A memorial service will be held at Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene, 903 N. Michigan Ave, Caldwell, at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 11, 2011.
