He came to America around the year 1833 or 1834, and located near Canton, Ohio. On June 20, 1839, he was married to Anna Miller, who was born near Louisville, Stark co., Ohio, on February 1, 1819. No records of her parents available. Peter died January 8, 1896, and Anna died July 6, 1890, and both are buried Amish Cemetery, Grabill, Allen Co., Indiana. Peter served as bishop of the Old Order Amish Church for many years, and seen all of his children affiliated with the same church. Also witnessed the ordination of 4 of his sons to the ministry.
