A precious wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Libby lived a life of faith and service to her Lord Jesus Christ. She especially loved working with young people and young married couples. At her death, she was a member of Valdosta Baptist Church.
Libby was known for her sewing ability and her talent was shared with all those she loved. She made her first dress in the fourth grade and over her lifetime, she learned to do anything that could be done with a needle. She enjoyed sewing for others but she got a special joy from teaching others to enjoy the hobby she loved so much.
Libby was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Malone; parents, Arthur Asbury "Dock" and Alberta Carmack Jackson; sisters, Velma Kent, Estelle Hester and Kitty Jordan; brother, Aubrey Jackson; son-in-law, Richard R. Cooper and great-grandsons, Andrew Michael and Reginald Walter Cooper.
Survivors include sons, C.W. (Eleanor) Hunter of Muscle Shoals, AL and Herbert L. (Bonnie) Hunter of Spartanburg, S.C.; daughter, Faye (Bob) Torstrick of Florence, AL, and daughter by choice, Janet Moore of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Katy (Jimmy) Linville of Florence, AL, Vicky (Derrick) McKee of Toney, AL, Langston (Sophie) Hunter of Decatur, AL, Mike (Jenelle) Cooper of Hollywood, MD, Stephanie (Art) McMahon of Cincinnati, OH, Robbie (Beth) Moore of Montgomery, AL, David (Sherri) Torstrick and Michael Torstrick all of Louisville, KY; fifteen great ¬grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mother's life will be held at 11 am Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel, Tuscumbia, AL, with Bro. Jeff Newton officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday and one hour before the service at Morrison Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alabama Baptist Childrens Homes at ABC Homes, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236-1767 or a charity of your choice.
We would like to extend special thanks to the many friends and professionals who supported Mother, and our family, every step of this journey. You are so dear to us.
