Motion Picture Set Designer. He was an Acadamy Award-winning set designer on 17 motion pictures and art director on 245 films from 1922 to 1970 including: "Palmy Days," "The Kid From Spain," "The Call of the Wild," "Swanee River," "Blood and Sand," "Roxie Hart," "My Foolish Heart" and a number of "Charlie Chan" movies. Nominated for 18 Oscars, he won 7 for his work on "On the Waterfront," "A Streetcar Named Desire," "This Above All," "My Gal Sal,""How Green Was My Valley," "Dodsworth" and "The Dark Angel."
