Son of Newman Perkins II and Elizabeth TANNER. Married 1. Mary C. FRENCH 23 December, 1841 at Bolton, NY. She died without issue 26 March, 1845 at Clayton, Lenawee Co., MI.

Newman then married 2. Olive MILLER 26 May, 1846 at Clayton. They had five children: Almond C. Perkins (1847-c1930, married Huldah A. THOMPSON, one daughter), Mary Jane "Jennie" Perkins (1849-1931, married Edward P. ROOT, five sons), Eugene J. Perkins (1851-c1911, married Mary HETZEL, one son, one daughter), Harriet Earlaville "Villie" Perkins (1853-1919, married John H. CHANDLER, two daughters) and Edwin J. Perkins (1855-c1905, married Mary NOYES, two sons).

Olive Miller Weatherwax died 8 May, 1883 at Clayton at the age of 65. Newman then married Harriet L. TUTTLE Jewell on 23 July, 1884 at Hanover, Jackson Co., MI.

Newman Perkins, an old resident of Clayton, died Tuesday at the home of his dau. Mrs. J.H. Chandler of Mishawaka, Ind. He was 91.
Burial in Dover Cemetery.
