Leona E. Fickel, 102, of Good Samaritan Center in Ottumwa, died at 6:10 p.m. Nov. 24, 1990, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born Oct. 5, 1888, in Glendale, Iowa to Gustave and Clara Johnson Schillerstrom.
She married Don Fickel on April 29, 1916, in Kahoka, MO. he died Dec. 15 1965.
She was a 65 year member of the First Baptist Church in Ottumwa and had been a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Paul D. of Lee Summit, MO and Howard R. of Casper, Wyo.; a daughter Cheryl Farrington of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a half brother, Allen Schillerstrom of Spokane, Washington; and two half-sisters, Clara Mae LaPoint of Ottumwa and Margaret Erwin of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a granddaughter and a brother, Ellsworth Schillerstrom.
The service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home in Ottumwa, The Revs. David Bevington and Vern Elder of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Walter LaPoint, Don Walley, Merl Schillerstrom, Brian Grooms, John and Don Fickel.
