Leslie Barrett Carman, of Midland, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006.

He was born September 25, 1928 in Jones County, Texas to Robert Leslie Carman and Melba Rowland Carman. Raised and educated in Odessa, Texas, Leslie graduated from Odessa High School in 1946. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Leslie proudly served his country for 25 years retiring in 1971 with the rank of Major. Major Carman's service included overseas postings in Korea, France, Germany and Vietnam. During his service he had also attended college for two years. After his retirement from the military, Leslie had worked as a hotel manager and was also employed with Dawson Geophysical. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Mary Carman, one brother, James Rowland Carman, and step-sister, Mary McFarland.

Leslie is survived by his brothers, Bill Carman and his wife, Minnie, of Anson, TX; Jay Carman of Midland, TX; sisters, Barbara Rimmer and her husband, Larry, of Abilene, TX; Kay Cockburn and her husband, Eddie, Cedar Park, TX; step-brothers, Bill Provance, Charles Provance and Tommy Provance, all of Missouri; nephews, David, Vincent, and Jeffery Rimmer and Bryan Cockburn; nieces, Brenda Owen, Amy Sanders, Beth Carman, Kay Donne Cockburn, Tommi Sue Johnson, Andrea Walker and Cynthia Shephard.

The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Friday, April 14, 2006 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 15, 2006 at North A and Tennessee Church of Christ with Greg Fleming officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
