The death of Cornelius F. Elenga of Tecumseh came as a great shock to his family and friends. He had gone out to do some work with the tractor and had just started the machine at his farm southwest of Tecumseh, when he suffered a massive heart attack. The tractor moved slowly over against a tree and was stopped there. A short time later, about 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, 1976, his wife found him there, on the tractor.

Mr. Elenga had never been sick, so his death was an even greater shock then if he had been ill. His age was 61 years, 3 months and 23 days.

Cornelius, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Elenga, was born at Sterling, Nebr., on May 23, 1915. The early years of his life were spent here, then when he was about 10 years old the family moved near Tecumseh, and he spent the remainder of his life in that community.

He married Marjorie Hauner, and two children were born to them, Donald and Anna Marie.

Farming was Mr. Elenga's occupation, but during World War II he served in the Coast Guard for four years. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 2.

Services were held Monday morning, Sept. 20, in the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, with Msgr. Adam J. Swzmydt officiating.

The graveside military service in Tecumseh cemetery was in charge of American Legion Post No. 2.
