She was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Medford, Mass., a daughter of the late Francis J. and Josephine A. (Ring) Roche. She was raised in Somerville, Mass., and had lived in Sudbury, Mass., for many years before moving to Maine.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and an avid reader.
She is survived by three sons, William H. Burton Jr. of Deltona, Fla., Joseph E. Burton of Rockland, Mass., and John M. Burton of Kingston, Mass.; four daughters, Sara Brandenburg of Sante Fe, N.M., Barbara E. Willey and her husband, Francis, of Tewksbury, Mass., Paula Habersang of Woodstock, Conn., and Mary Ellen Burton of Kennebunk, Maine; a brother, Arthur Roche of Yarmouthport, Mass.; a sister, Jean Lyons of Harwich, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband, William H. Burton Sr., died in 1997.
SERVICES: A memorial Mass for Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in St. Christopher Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York. There are no calling hours.
