Bernard A. "Bud" Marshall age 79 of 2801 Hwy 6 E. # 41, Iowa City died on Saturday, March 15, 2003 following a lingering illness at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Iowa City. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial with Military Rites provided by Iowa City VFW Post #3949 with assistance from other local organizations will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Bud Marshall Memorial Fund.

Bernard Alvin Marshall was born on August 17,1923 in Riverside the son of Alvin E. and Cora M. (Coon) Marshall. He attended rural Riverside Schools. From 1946 to 1947 he served his county during World War II as a member of the United States Army.

Bud worked for Swaner Dairy, which then became Home Town Dairy and is presently Roberts Dairy, for 36 years in various capacities. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City, The Moose Lodge, The Eagles Lodge, Iowa City V.F.W. Post # 3949 and Teamsters Union Local #238.

Bud had many and varied interests which included fishing, reading, ballroom dancing along with staying current with world news and politics. Family and friends will remember his practical jokes, drives in the country and his immaculate clothes and clean cars.

Bud's family includes his wife, Lottie of Iowa City, two sisters, Ramona and husband Clifford Bell Sr. of Iowa City and Dorothy Evans of Kalona, two sisters in-law, Nellie Marshall of North Ridge, CA. and Doris Marshall of Coeur d'Alene, ID., one granddaughter, Tiffany Sweeting of Iowa City, four step daughters, Sandy Hansen, Nancy Stalkfleet, Pat Lewis all of Iowa City and Carolyn Heitshusen of Coralville along with numerous nieces nephews, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

His parents, daughter, Donna Marshall, stepson, John Warner, sister, Wilma Garwood, brothers, Maynard and Harold Marshall preceded him in death. The Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service directors and staff are caring for Bud's services and his family.
