Earl Hillard Yarbrough, 90, died Wedsday, Nov 2, at 11:02 am in Collingsworth General Hospital. Mr Yarbrough was born Jan 8, 1898, in Erath County. the son of R T "Tom" Yarbrough and Lavada Ray Yarbrough.
Mr Yarbrough was a retired rancher and cattle raiser. In 1914 at the age of 10, he came to Dodson to work for his Uncle J P Yarbrough on the Yarbrough Ranch. On May 18, 1918, Mr Yarbrough married Mabel Peters in Wellington. She was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs George Peters, who settled in the Vinson area in 1900. They lived first on the Yarbrough Ranch near Dodson. Later they settled on their own ranch in the Shinnery community, where they lived for the remainder of their active lives. They moved to Wellington in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Wellington. He served as a member of its administrative board, board of Stewards and the Sunday School board.
Survivors are two daughters, Exa Cudd of Wellington and Audie Carter of Amarillo, a brother, J W Yarbrough of Breckenridge, a sister, Billie Harrison of Wellington, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel in 1984, a daughter, Audrey Johnson in 1987, by two brothers, Buddy Yarbrough and Fred Yarbrough and by a sister Ruth Young.
