Russell J. Dean, 75, Indianapolis, died at home on Saturday, November 5, 2011. Russell attended Butler University and Indiana University School of Law. In addition to his practice, he served as a member of the Indiana General Assembly-House of Representatives, lectured at Butler University, and acted as legislative counsel for the Indiana Council of Churches. Russell was a life-long member of Irvington United Methodist Church where he was very active in a variety of leadership positions. He provided legal counsel to and was a founding member of the South East Multi- Service Center. Russell is survived by his wife Becky Dean; son, Geoff Dean; and daughter Jennifer Hunt as well as daughter-in-law Yoshiko Nakamura, son-in-law Steve Hunt and grandchildren Yuki, Eriko, Abby and Cassie. Services for Russell will be November 9 in Irvington United Methodist Church, Indianapolis. Visitation will be November 8 in Oakley-Hammond Funeral Home, Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel, Indianapolis and one hour prior to the service in the church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
