John served as a Sergeant on B-26C Marauder (#41-35139), 475th Bomber Squadron, 355th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Onondaga County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 10, 1943 in Syracuse, New York. He was noted as being Single, without dependents.

John died in the "Line Of Duty" of a Non Battle related incident during the war.

He was one of six airmen killed when the twin-engine bomber crashed into terrain, nine miles east of Castor, Louisiana.
