He resided in Onondaga County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army National Guard on October 15, 1940, prior to the war, in Syracuse, New York. He was noted as being employed as an Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

Robert "Died Of Wounds" received on Saipan Island during the war.

He was awarded a Purple Heart.

Syracuse Herald Journal - August 4, 1944

A war department telegram to Miles M. Davis of 318 Edgewood Avenue informs him that his son, Corp. Robert Louis Davis, 22, died July 11 from wounds suffered on Saipan Island.

Corp. Davis had been in the invasions of Makin, Tarawa, and Saipan. He wrote under date of July 7 from Saipan that he had "seen his share of the war and probably would see quite a bit more".

In Syracuse he attended Elmwood School, Theodore Roosevelt Junior High and Onondaga Valley Academy. He went into service in 1940 and had been overseas since March 1942. His brother, 2nd Lt. Howard W. Davis, a pilot instructor is stationed at Randolph Field.
