Grand Island - Thelma Irene (Perry) McShane Reiss died October 8, 2003 at St. Francis Medical Ceneter in Grand Island at the age of 73.
Funeral services were held October 13, 2003 at the Third City Christian Church in Grand Island with the Reverend S. Scott Jones and the Reverend Tim Snyder offciating. Graveside services were held at the Clay Center Cemetry.
Music was provided by Donna Alexander, keyboard and congregational hymns.
Casket bearers were Shawn McShane, Earl Seastone, Ted George, Mike L'Heureux, John Braun and Merlin Ignowski.
Thelma was born January 30, 1930 on a farm near Guide Rock to James William and Iida Mae (Nelson) Perry. She attended Red Cloud Public Schools.
On October 25, 1947 she was united in marriage to Raymond James McShane in Red Cloud. They made their home in several communties, including Plattsmouth, Superior, Edgar, Clay Center, and Verona. In 1987 they moved to Grand Island.
On June 1, 1991 she wa united in marriage to Glendale Reiss in Grand Island.
She was a member of the Third City Christinan Church and Joy Bible Study Group in Grand Island, American Legion Auxiliary of Doniphan, the DAV of hastings, where she was a past commander and the National Sod House Society.
She was preceeded in death by her parents; husband Raymond McShane on September 21, 1990; one brother Franklin James Perry, and three grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Glendale of Grand Island, two daughters, Reva Cherry of Juanita and Teresa and her husband Brad Young of Red Cloud; 4 sons Ronnie McShane of Collinwood, TN, Jerry and his wife Sharon McShane of Blue Hill, Richard and his wife Delores McShane of Hastings and Roger McShane of York; stepchildren, Thomas Reiss of Lexington, Timothy Reiss of Lincoln, Tamra and her husband Andrew Sherman of Omaha, Terry Reiss of Kearney, Glendale M. Reiss and Miracle L. Reiss; sister Ann L'Heuerex of Overland Park, KS; 12 grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army Food Pantry in Grand Island, the Third City Christian Church Benevolent Fund, the Diabetes Association or to the family.
