Funeral services for Gerald (Jerry) Dean Allen, 48, of Anaheim, Calif., were held Saturday in St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church at Algona with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Algona. Mr. Allen was a son of the late Wayne Allen and Mrs. Wayne Allen, now of Anaheim, and formerly of Pocahontas.

He died April 19 at Kansas City, Mo., of a heart attack. He had gone to Kansas City to accept a new position.

Survivors include his mother, two sons, Wayne of Paramount, Calif., and Michael, of Long Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Patty Jo Brown, Biloxi, Miss.; four grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ray Mountjoy of Indianapolis, Ind.

Jerry Allen was born Feb. 6, 1921 at Havelock. His father and R.R. Allen of Pocahontas operated an automobile business in Pocahontas for a number of years, leaving in the early 1930’s.

For some time Jerry was employed by car dealers in Algona, moving to California in 1952. While in Algona, he was a member of the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Toastmasters Club, American Legion, and was past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. and Mrs. R.R. Allen, accompanied by their daughter, Mrs. Darlene Soethen of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Heathman and daughter, Mrs. Jack Brisbols of Fonda, attended the funeral services.
