Hettie Mae Davis TEXAS CITY — Hettie Mae Davis, 90, of Texas City died Sunday, October 12, 1997, in Texas City.

Mrs. Davis was a homeniaker, a resident of Texas City for 35 years and a member of the First Baptist Church, Texas City. She was born to Ben and Lucille Spillman on a mule farm near Paragould, Arkansas on February 16,1907. Later the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she graduated from high school and attended Draughn's Business College. She married B. A O'Brien of Alvord, Texas, in 1926 and a son, Ben A O'Brien was born to them in 1927. During the World War II years she managed G.F. Wacker Stores in Big Spring and Wink. Texas. In the years following the conflict, she and her second husband, an Air Force sergeant, spent several years in Japan and other exotic locations.

"Mama Het," as she was affectionately known, leaves wonderful memories to: son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Janet O'Brien of Texas City; granddaughter and husband, Peggy and Jim Davenport of Dickinson; granddaughter Terri Harbuck of Texas City; grandson and wife, Perry and Denise O'Brien of Texas City; great-grandson and wife, Doug and Robin Davenport of Santa Fe; great-granddaughters Dixie Davenport of Friendswood; and Caitlin and Darcie O'Brien of Texas City; great-grandsons Ben and Tye Harbuck of Florala, Alabama, and Michael O'Brien of Texas City; great-great-grandsons Jordan Davenport and T.J. Moore of Santa Fe and a sisterin-law, Velma Talkington, of Big Spring, Texas.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14,1997, in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque, with Dr. Henry Adrion officiating. Burial to follow at Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock.

Pallbearers will be Perry O'Brien, Jim Davenport, Doug Davenport, Wade Sholemire, John Schmidt, and Tommy Gamble. "visitation will be Monday, October 13,1997, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Galveston County.
