Daniel Birkle was raised by foster parents named Gloss.
Daniel Birkle with his first wife Mary Dorothy Olenberger left Russia and went to Hamburg, Germany during the Great Oppression with their children; Marie age 5, Daniel Jr. age 4, John age 1 and new born Olanda "Lillie" who had not been named yet at this time. Their first child died in Russia at birth.
At Hamburg, Germany they caught passage and traveled on the Pretoria.
These were very brave people to come at this time of history as so many others did. They ventured west and finally homesteaded in Shattuck, Oklahoma where they had 3 more children
Mary died on June 9, 1905, giving birth to their 8th child who died at birth and they were buried on the homestead.
Their descendants continue to search for information on Daniel & Mary and their forefathers and Mothers.
