Mr. Lynwood Tarver Speedy Tebeau - SPRINGFIELD - Mr. Lynwood Tarver Speedy Tebeau, 82, of Springfield, GA, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his residence. He was the last surviving child of the late Frederick Edmund and Mary Annie Gnann Tebeau. He was a devoted husband and true companion to his wife, Frances, for more than forty-two years. Together, they enjoyed camping, dancing and just being together. He was a member of Guyton United Methodist Church, a tree farmer on his family farm and a good man. Few knew of his ability to quilt but all were aware of his quick wit and sharp tongue. He retired from Union Camp as a wood yard foreman after more than thirty years of service. He was a former Springfield Chief of Police and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He also served as past president of the Springfield Jaycees and had been named Outstanding Jaycee of the Year. He is survived by his wife, Frances; six children, ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Jewell Tebeau, and Zellie Patrick of Statesboro; brother-in-law, Pat Johnson of Statesboro, several nieces, nephews, and his dedicated caregivers. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at Guyton United Methodist Church. Interment: Tebeau Family Cemetery on Lynwood Lane in Springfield. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association , 5105 Paulsen St., Suite C236, Savannah, GA 31405. Riggs Funeral Home Guyton, GA.
