Fritz Papenhagen, 31, born Germany, son of Friederich & Anna (Schmidt) Papenhagen, and Anna Sommerfeld, 27, born Posen, Germany, daughter of Albert & Bertha (Ost) Sommerfeld, were married May 11, 1915 at Manning, Ia. Woman Collapses In Grocery Store Dies At Hospital

MRS. ANNA PAPENHAAGEN VICTIM OF STROKE FRIDAY EVENING

Mrs. Anna Papenhaagen. 51, prominent Adams county (sic) farm woman died at a Hastings hospital last night at 7:15 o'clock after collapsing in a Hastings grocery store on First street (sic) yesterday afternoon at 5:30.

The mother of seven children, Mrs. Papenhaagen suffered a stroke, doctors said. She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital where she died less than two hours later.

Neighbors of the Papenhaagens, who live four miles west and one and a quarter miles south of Hastings, said Mrs. Papenhaagen had been in ill health for some time.

Surviving her are her husband, Fred; seven children, Mrs. Clarence Munroe of Hastings, Mrs. Francis Reweart (sic) of Hastings, and Walter, Hugo, Paula, Gertrude, and Florence, all at home.

Also a survivor is her mother in Iowa, four brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Papenhaagen was active in church and community affairs. She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran church (sic), southwest of Hastings, and was a charter member of the Ladies' Aid and missionary society.

She was born at Posen, Germany, in 1889 (sic). The family moved to the United States and settled in Iowa. There she was married to Fred Papenhaagen. They later moved to Hastings, where they lived for some time before moving to the farm about 15 years ago.

Funeral arangements (sic) have not yet been completed. The body is at the Brand Funeral Home.
