He was born Jan. 7, 1900, in St. Francois County to John and Frances (Simpson) Covington.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He worked as an agent for the Missouri Home Life Insurance Co. for many years before retiring.
On June 10, 1924, he married the former Miss Lydia Cornell. She preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1962.
He is survived by three sons, Vernon, Rev. Robert and Dean Covington; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Harth and Mrs. Marie Williams; one brother, Claude Covington; 17 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, six sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home here. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery near Morley.
