Graveside services for Clay Morris Simmons, 89, of Jacksonville, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005,at Mount Hope Cemetery in Wells with Bro. Larry Smith officiating.

Mr. Simmons was born June 18, 1915 in Wells and died April 18, 2005 in Jacksonville. He was a self-employed residential carpenter and served in the army. He was a Baptist.

Survivors: wife of 63 years, Charlene Simmons of Jacksonville; daughters and sons-in-laws, Marlene Williamson of Palastine, Martha and Larry Sockwell of Rusk, Johnnie Sue and Charlie Brogdon of Oakwood; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Pat Simmons of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren, Delynda Moore, Robin Cleland, Don Garner Jr., John Paul Elliott, Stephen Elliott, Kendra Scarborough, Michael Elliott, Frances Hague and Chuck Brogdon; 18 great- grandchildren; two great-great grandsons, several nieces and nephews.

Clay was also the twin to Clara Doris Simmons Ellerbee.
