Anna Pauline Anderson was born on her parents' farm south of Moorhead in Clay County, MN on 12 May 1872. She was the second of four children born to her parents. Jens and Pethrine Eliassen Anderson.

Her three siblings were: Ida C. 22 Aug 1870–20 Aug 1872, Einar Ditlef 26 Feb 1874–12 Apr 1964 (Nellie Alma Young 4 Jun 1881–23 Feb 1981) and Kathinka Christine 7 Sep 1877–27 Nov 1930.

She attended grade school and Hope Academy in Moorhead where she graduated in 1891. She taught rural schools for a few years near Perley. She later attended the Minneapolis School of Art. She worked in Minneapolis as a photo retoucher and sewed to make ends meet.

She returned home and made her home with her parents in Lee Township and was a member of the Bethania Lutheran Church. She was confirmed at Bethania 16 Oct 1887, a member of its first class.

Anna and her sister Kathinka went to Montana and proved up homesteads near Columbus. She returned home to Lee Township and continued to live with her father until his death.

She then moved to Moorhead, MN and made her home there. She suffered a stroke 31 Oct 1947. Anna passed away 13 Dec 1947 at her brother, Einar's home in Perley, MN.

Funeral services for her were held at the Bethania Lutheran Church 20 Dec 1947 with Pastor Jacob Lien officiating. She was 75 years old at the time of her death. She did not marry. Pallbearers were: Donald E. Anderson, Rolf Sundstad, Elmer Sundstad, Oliver L. Lee, Earl Hovden and Phillip Hovden.
