Born October 19, 1920 in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James Lunsford and Ethel Hodge Ashburn.
Mrs. Gamble was a graduate of Kingstree High school, a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and was an active member of Kingstree United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wallace Connor Sunday school class and the Katie Cole circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard; daughter, Beverly Ann; sister, Gladys Pinkerton and a brother, Fred L. Ashburn. Surviving are her son, Fred H. (Judi) Gamble of Kingstree; grandsons, Lamont (Amanda) of Kingstree, Hodge (Stacey) Gamble of Hanahan; and a great-grandson.
Graveside Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Tuesday in Kingstree Memorial Gardens.
