FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR RAY PORTER TUESDAY AT METHODIST CHURCH.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Cumberland, Tuesday afternoon, March 17, 1964, for Ray Porter, 76, who passed away at his home in Creston, Iowa, March 14, 1964.
.
The son of William and Belle Wilkins Porter, he was born [January 25, 1888], in the Reno vicinity where he grew to young manhood. He was united in marriage to Rose Cannon, who passed away when the children were small. He was married to Frances Doss of Creston, who survives. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Hazel and Levina, a son, Carl, at the age of 18, and a brother, Charles Porter.

Surviving besides his widow are five children: Mrs. Chester Dilley of Anita, Iowa; Lillian Riley of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Rose Smith of Eagle Bend, Minnesota; Valley Arnburg of Atlantic, Iowa; and Arley Porter of Neola, Iowa; two brothers, Joe Porter and Earl Porter; and, one sister, Pearl Lehman, all of Cumberland, Iowa.

Rev. William Richardson of Cumberland and Rev. A. Breeling of Grant, Iowa, officiated at the services. Mrs. Tom Bond provided instrumental music at the organ. Serving as casket bearers were nephews, Max Porter of Massena, Dennis Porter of Harlan, Bernard Dilley of Independence, Arnold Dilley of Denver, Colorado, Milton Riley of Missouri Valley and Maurice Lehman of Cumberland.

Burial was in the Reno Methodist Cemetery, rural Cumberland, Cass County, Iowa.
