TRUAL [ATCHLEY] GRIMES SALTER
Funeral services for Trual Salter, 91, of Chickasha will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2005, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Ron Caudill officiating.
Trual Salter was born March 7, 1914, in Childress, Texas, the daughter of William M. and Martha C. (Elder) Atchley. She died November 7, 2005, in Chickasha.
Her family moved to Grandfield, Oklahoma when she was 8 years old. She graduated from Grandfield High School in 1932.
She moved to Hobart in 1936 to work for the Farm Security Administration.
Here she met and married Bob Grimes. This union blessed them with three children: W. R. (Bob) Grimes, Gerald Grimes, and Martha Hughes.
In 1958, Bob went to work at Chick-o-line feed Mills in Chickasha, where they relocated and made their home. Bob prececed her in death in 1973. They were married 35 years.
She later married Jesse Salter in May of 1976. He preceded her in death in February 1988.
Trual became a Christian during a tent revival in Grandfield, Oklahoma.
She was a very devoted Christian. She was a true blessing to everyone that ever knew her. She had a heart of gold, and was always there to offer her help in any way she could. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She dearly loved and enjoyed her church family, and enjoyed the
time she got to spend with them all.
Trual was preceded in death by both husbands; both parents; grandson, Randall Grimes; three sisters: Adeline Atchley, Jean Roark and Fern Genung; and one brother, Frank Atchley.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Bob and Pat Grimes, of Kent, Washington, and Gerald and Sherry Grimes of Chickasha; daughter and son-in-law: Marty and Jim Hughes, of Tuttle; eight grandchildren and spouses: Rodney and Lola Grimes, Greg Grimes, Susan and Ron Sellers, Carol Grimes, Brent and Amanda Grimes, Angie Grimes and fiancé, John Cremer, Chris and Rocki Hughes, Jennifer Hughes; great grandchildren: Sydney, Stephen, Andrew, Sarah, and Samantha Grimes, Christopher, Robert, and Abigail Sellers; Cole and Halle Hughes; Gage & Lacy Grimes; Kanaan & Jonah Cremer; and Austin Dooley. Many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
