Tom E. Best, a pioneer, who died Sunday at his home two miles southeast of Admire, will be buried this afternoon in Ivy cemetery.

Funeral of T. E. Best
Funeral services for Thomas Erwin Best, of Admire, who died April 8, were held Wednesday afternoon at the home. Rev. Mr. Glaze, of Quenemo, assisted by Rev. Mr. Basquin, of Admire, conducted the services. Interment was at the Ivy cemetery.

Thomas Erwin Best was born in Zanesville, Ohio, June 30, 1840. At the age of 12 he moved with his parents to Martinsville, Ind., where he lived until his enlistment in the Civil War.

He enlisted July 1861 in Company B, Twenty-first Indiana regiment, serving four years. He was discharged in 1866 at Baton Rouge, LA.

In August, 1867, Mr. Best came to Kansas. He was married in 1868 to Martha E. Moon, of Brooklyn, N. Y. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Best--Jennie June, Minnie May, Walter C., Anna F., Ethel A., and Lawrence Lee. Anna, Ethel and Lawrence Best survive. Mrs. Best died May 20, 1898.

On September 20, 1899, Mr. Best was married to Annie McKillip, of Admire. Mrs. Best, with one child, Josephine survive Mr. Best. One sister, one brother, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren also are living.
