Stanley “Sam” Urbanski

My grandmother's first husband and the father of her two sons Leonard and Robert, Stanley "Sam" Urbanski is a mystery man.

Family oral history is that he served in WWI where he contracted the TB that he died from in 1920, however I find no record of his having been in the service. I thought I'd found it at one time, but the age of that Stanley Urbanski was too old. I've since learned there are two Stanley Urbanski's about 5 years apart in age from two different Urbanski families in the Benton County, MN area. Possibly they are cousins and this could be why this Stanley went by Sam. All guesses though.

His death certificate lists the cause of death as TB and the origin of the disease as unknown. My guess is that if it was from while in the service it would be noted, but maybe not.

He died in the Minnesota State Sanatorium for Consumptives in Walker MN. He was there for 4 months before he died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and had TB for one year at time of death.

His death certificate shows he body was shipped to Foley, MN and recent info points to this cemetery, where other members of his family are buried, as his final resting place.
