Andy was born in Staten Island, N.Y., to the late Andrew and Marie Back. He graduated from Falls Church High School in Virginia then joined the U.S. Air Force and served his country for four years which involved work on Air Force One. After his discharge from the Air Force he went to Sam Houston State University graduating with a degree in Business Administration. On April 13, 1974, he married his high school sweetheart, Sandy Dennis. Andy worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 21 years. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Woodway where he taught children's Sunday school. Andy had a deep love for the Lord and expressed that love in his everyday activities. In his free time, he loved to play golf and swim and was a big fan of baseball. His love of animals called him to become a docent at the Cameron Park Zoo where he taught children about them and spent many hours volunteering his time to better the facility. His grandsons were the light of his life and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Andy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy; son, Ryan and his wife, Kimberly; grandchildren, Cody and Justin; sisters, Barbara Dougherty and her husband, Jim, and Brenda McDermott and her husband, Paul; and many other family members and numerous friends.
