Gladys Lucille Gorrell, age 90, of Canton, MO died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 5:15 p.m. in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton.

She was born January 5, 1917 near Benjamin, MO a daughter of Nathaniel Joseph and Katherine Lavinia Clark Wagner. She married Robert M. Gorrell on April 14, 1946 in Canton. He died May 12, 1972.

Lucille was a life long resident of Lewis County graduating from Canton High School in 1935. She had worked at the Riggs Drug Store until her marriage and became involved in farming with her husband and son Lynn. She was an active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women and was also a former member of Unity Chapter #151 Order of Eastern Star in Canton and current member of Monticello Chapter #383 Order of Eastern Star, in Monticello, MO. She was a past president of Canton B.P.W. and past president of the Lewis County Nursing Home Auxillary and enjoyed the Good Neighbors Club and Extension Club. Lucille enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, reading and playing cards.

Survivors include two sons, Larry William Gorrell and his wife Lynn of Quincy, IL and Robert Lynn Gorrell and his wife Elaine of Canton; three grandchildren Terence Alan Johnson and his wife Marla of Bothell, WA, Laura Jane Wright and her husband Matthew of Evanston, IL and Nathan Thomas Gorrell of Parker, CO; one great granddaughter Audrey Mae Wright of Evanston, IL; one sister Katherine Srednik of Santa Cruz, CA; two brothers N.J. Wagner Jr. and his wife Shirley of Gladstone, MO and Howard Clark Wagner and his wife Norma of Canton; a sister in law Pauline Gorrell of Canton, a brother in law David Hanisch of Rocklin, CA and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters Frances Hanisch and Agnes Hamilton and brothers in law Neal Hamilton and Jack Doyle.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with family meeting friends after 6:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton. There will be an Eastern Star service held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening in the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church or Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary.
