Miller was born in Peoria, Illinois. He moved to California in 1903 working in Los Angeles at Hamburgers Department Store. He later moved to Visalia where he was employed by Mt. Whitney Power & Light Co, then became Southern California Edison Co. He met his future wife at Edison and they were married 14 June 1916. After his retirement from Edison after 40 years, he became the first crossing guard employed by the city of Visalia. He was appointed honorary life member by the PTA in 1965.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, LeRoy and Calvin Miller, both of Visalia; one daughter, Elva Clark of Visalia; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Friday at Visalia Cemetery with the Rev. James McPhaill officiating.

Grandpa loved taking pictures and I'm so glad he did. He was good about keeping in touch with his family in the East, and enjoyed telling stories about his youth to his grandchildren & great-grandchildren. You are missed Grandpa.
