Funeral service for Mrs. Vera Mae "Granny" Frederick , 88, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Manis officiating. Burial will be at Alazan Cemetery.
Mrs. Frederick was born on September 7, 1923, in Cherokee County, Texas to the late Robert Bentley and Martha Ivy Pitts Johnson. She passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 3, 2011, in Nacogdoches.
Vera was a lifelong resident of Nacogdoches. She was a wonderful, loving and attentive wife, mother, "granny" and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening , flowers, her chickens and the outdoors. She was a Christian and was a long standing member of Gravel Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte McCoy and husband, L.Z. of Caddo Mills, Texas and Patsy Smith of Laurel, Mississippi; nine grandchildren, Sandy Dickerson and husband, Glen, Darlene Lunsford, Jerry Craig and wife, Rhonda, Sammy Craig and wife, Michelle, Eddie Craig, Melanie Sumerall, Sherry McBride and husband, Donald Ray and Melissa Brimer; fifteen great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kylie and Kourtney and Justin, Chance, Danny and Britney, Brandi and Amanda and Heather and Marylynn, Jason and Ivy and Desiree, Mikeal; three sisters, Verna Beall of Nacogdoches, Vestine Combs of Gun Barrel City and Vester Ann Johnson of Nacogdoches; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and great friends.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha Johnson, her husband, Quinton Frederick, a daughter, Rosine Cline and granddaughter, Melinda Brimer.
Pallbearers will be Glen Dickerson, Mikeal Brimer, Danny Lunsford, Justin Dickerson, Gene Fuller and Eddie Beall.
