He was born July 15, 1928 in Logan, W.Va., to Charles and Minnie Buck Conway.
He was the owner and operator of J&C Heating and Cooling for 13 years before his retirement. Earlier he worked for Virginia Heating & Cooling for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Anna V. Messer Conway; four daughters, Margaret, Hilda, Naomi, and Anna; three sons, Ernest, Steve, and John; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Cora Walker; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Evelyn Johnson; a son, John Messer; five sisters; and two brothers.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. today in The Meeks Mortuary Chapel. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time.
